We all run the tap in the morning to brush our teeth and it can be baffling to understand how water can cut heavy duty materials like thick stainless steel. That said, these machines do exist but perhaps they do not quite work in the way you’d expect.

It’s not simple a water pistol that’s controlled by a computer, water could not effortlessly cut metals, no matter how small the jet is, yet water combined with abrasive garnet can. Water shoots down a nozzle, though a ruby or diamond, where it’s introduced to an abrasive garnet.

The formula then heads into a guard where it’s sent down to cut the metal and that’s it. Obviously a great deal of power is required to really give the machine some force, but the cutting method is as simple as that, and the nozzle can be controlled for thick or thin cuts.
